Supervisor Russell announces that the Town of Southold will join with the American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE Initiative and designates the second week in May (May 8-14, 2023) as Turquoise Takeover and Lung Cancer Action Week in the Town of Southold.

Each May, during Turquoise Takeover and Lung Cancer Action Week, the Lung Association turns the nation turquoise to raise awareness for lung cancer, raise funds and inspire Americans to take action to prevent lung cancer and detect it earlier.

Supervisor Russell states, "Lung Cancer is the leading cancer killer in the U.S. We join with the American Lung Association in raising awareness to ensure fewer people are diagnosed. I encourage all residents of the Town of Southold to learn more about lung cancer, risk factors and to take part in critical lifesaving screening."
