In 2015, the Southold Town Anti-Bias Task Force established the Helen W. Prince Award to call the attention to and honor a community member in Southold who has distinguished him or herself as an extraordinary leader in championing civil and human rights by promoting diversity, unity and fairness in our town.
The recipient of the 2018 Award is Mr. Brian Mealy, Board Trustee at Mattituck-Cutchogue School District; Library Clerk at Floyd Memorial Library in Greenport; Board Member at Eastern Suffolk BOCES, Board Member at Peconic Green Growth among other community efforts. His leadership and commitment to our community is known to many. Mr. Mealy is someone who in his many roles, he actively participates in creating and affirming an inclusive environment for all.
We invite you to join us honoring and celebrating Mr. Brian Mealy’s contributions to our community and the different hamlets. At the event, there will also be a display of art made by students in the Town of Southold. Acclaimed scholar, leader and advocate, Dr Georgette Grier-Key will be guest speaker.
