Responsibilities

The Southold Town Police Department is responsible for providing law enforcement services for the 60 square miles of land and adjoining coastline within the Town of Southold, consisting of nine hamlets, including Fishers Island and the Village of Greenport. As a full service department we maintain a Detective Division, Marine Division, and Juvenile Aid Bureau as well as a Highway Patrol and K-9 Units.

The department operates a Communications / Dispatch Center which encompasses most of the North Fork of Long Island by receiving 9-1-1 calls and dispatching for two police departments and eight fire departments.
