A Local Law in relation to a Temporary Moratorium

A Local Law entitled, “A Local Law in relation to a Temporary Moratorium on the issuance of approvals and/or permits by the Building Department, Planning Board, Board of Trustees and the Zoning Board of Appeals for the parcels of property in the State Route 25 Love Lane Intersection and surrounding area has been ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Southold on February 26, 2019.

The purpose of the Temporary Moratorium is to allow for the expansion and completion of the ongoing Traffic Study and the Town Comprehensive Plan as well as to allow the Town Board an opportunity to implement any improvements to infrastructure and zone changes that are recommended by the studies.

The proposed moratorium will expire six (6) months after adoption unless extended by the Town Board and would allow for applications to be exempt from the moratorium on a hardship basis.  The moratorium does not apply to residential uses or applications by fire districts of other special districts.

This Local Law shall take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State as provided by law.

The full text of the proposed local is available for review in the Town Clerk’s Office and on the Town’s website.
